Example Quarterly (mock)·2019-2021·Research operations

Sample case study: halving survey drop-off (mock data, UPDATED)

A mock study used to test the case study pipeline: a reader survey lost most respondents before page three, so a redesign cut the questions and tripled completion.

43%completion rate, up from 12%

Mock figure: measured across the 2021 wave against the 2019 baseline on the same invite list.

Background

The survey had grown by accretion: each desk added questions and none were removed [2].

Where readers left

Page-level analytics showed one grid lost more respondents than every other page combined.

What we cut

Questions with no citation in two years were removed, following the retention rule in [3].

Shorter is not the same as easier, so every remaining question was re-tested.

Results

Completion rose to 41%. The full table is in the data.
